How We Can All Donate To Charity
Donating to charity is an incredibly important thing to do here in the United States, so much so that up to seventy percent of all people who are currently living in this country will donate to a charity of their choice before the year has reached its conclusion. Many people will even make numerous charitable donations, if they are able. But still more people wish they could donate some sum of money to charity but are not able to do so.
This is not uncommon. After all, the world can be a difficult place to survive in, especially here in the United States. For many people, simply making ends meet can be difficult enough, let alone setting aside extra money for charitable causes. For many people and for many families, that extra money simply does not exist.
However, this does not mean that you can\’t give back to your community. For instance, used clothing donations are a great way to give to a charity such as the American Red Cross, and Red Cross donations do not just need to be a monetary amount. If you decide to donate clothing to a clothing donation pickup, you are filling a very important need – but you\’re also saving yourself the money that you need as well.
And it\’s more likely than not that you have the clothes to spare. After all, clothing consumption in the United States is higher than ever, with more than twenty billion garments and various articles of clothing consumed over the course of just one single year. This means that, on average, the typical person here in the United States will buy more than sixty five articles of clothing in this same span of time – and up to seven pairs of shoes. Some people, funds allowing, will buy even more.
For many people, this means that too many pieces of clothing end up in their closets and drawers, contributing to a general cluttered feeling not only in their closet spaces alone but in their homes as a whole as well. But it can be difficult to get rid of clothes and make American Red Cross donations in the form of used clothing donations. After all, many of our clothes hold a sentimental value to us – and the pack rats among us often feel that even if we\’re not using an article of clothing now, we might in the someday of the future.
However, if you live in a one to two season climate, you should seriously consider donating any clothing that you have not worn at least once over the course of the last six months or so. It\’s also important to donate clothing that simply does not fit any longer. While it can be tempting to keep such clothing in the hopes that it will one day fit you again, it is likely to be much better served as American Red Cross donations.
And that leads us to our next point. Once you decide to donate clothes, you have to pick where you will donate them to. For some people, veterans charities fulfill what they are looking for in a charity, providing an important service to those who have served our country. However, not everyone will be interested in such charities and might instead be interested in making American Red Cross donations.
The American Red Cross, after all, fills a very important role here in our country, providing everything from donated clothing to food. Red Cross sites also provide shelter, blankets, and even blood donations when it is deemed to be necessary. And because Red Cross sites are open around the clock – all hours of the day and all days of the year, including weekends and holidays – they are in need of Red Cross donations pretty much always. Giving your clothing donations as Red Cross donations is a great way to directly help those who are needy within your very own community.
From Red Cross donations to donating to veterans charities and the like, giving back to your community or to the world as a whole is a very important thing – and, as this article has shown, you don\’t need to break the bank to do so.
