If this is your first time at a particular laundromat, do not leave your clothes unattended. The worst thing that could happen is that your clothes could be stolen, but most likely, what will happen is that an impatient person will stop your machine, take your clothes out, and use your machine. You then have to wait for another machine to become available.

Most coin laundromats will offer machines that dole out single-use doses of laundry detergent and fabric softener. They may not sell your preferred brand, so it is best to bring your own. Most machines operate by quarters only, so be sure to bring plenty.

Many dryers are stacked on top of each other. Next to the coin slot is an arrow indicating what machine you are paying for. Expect to have your laundry go through more than one cycle to get your clothes dry.
